What are the responsibilities of the Next Generation Sequencing Team and what are yours specifically?
The Next Generation Sequencing Team is operating at the final part of the sequencing pipeline. We receive DNA libraries from the Pre-Sequencing Team and prepare them for sequencing. This includes for example pooling of the samples, quantification, denaturation, and adjusting the final concentration of the pools, followed by preparing the sequencing platforms, executing the run on the NovaSeq6000 for example, keeping the records, and storing the samples.
So, it’s a quite extensive area of responsibility.
Yeah, but I got it down and I like the routine.
Let’s get to know a little more about you. What’s your morning routine? How do you start into your day?
I am a man of routine and my mornings are always the same… like a Swiss clockwork. I wake up at the same time – to the minute – every morning. I switch on the morning news, and prepare and eat my breakfast. Then I take a shower and get ready for work. I watch the sports and weather news before I leave for work. That’s it.
